The astringent chestnut extracts are used in slow and bath tanning processes, but also in rapid tanning. This type of tannins provides the leather with greater resistance to overuse, increases its waterproof characteristics and its breathability.

The sweetened chestnut extracts are characterized by a higher ph than the astringent ones, to allow the tannins to penetrate the already tanned skin. Being hydrolysable, like the astringent extracts, they guarantee a more delicate tanning to the leather.
