River Chimica Industriale S.p.A.aims to reduce environmental impact by adopting an approach geared toward monitoring and improving the performance of purchased and marketed products in order to protect human health and the environment.
Specifically, River Chimica Industriale S.p.A. promotes openness, transparency and communication of information about hazardous chemicals that may be contained in marketed products by joining the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Project and registering on the ZDHC Gateway platform.
Management undertakes to:
To comply with restrictions or limits on the use or content of chemicals in articles placed on the market, resulting from:
Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACh), Reg.2019/1021/EU (persistent organic pollutants, POPs) and related regulations;
Technical specifications on materials or articles (from customers or other interested parties);
Voluntary membership projects such as the international ZDHC project (to view their MRSL, Manufacturing Restricted Substances List, see https://mrsl.roadmaptozero.com/
Monitoring and control of all banned or restricted chemicals used by the company for product formulation by conducting regular testing in accordance with ICEC TS 420 requirements through ISO 17025-accredited and/or ZDHC-approved laboratories. Underwriting specifications and declarations of compliance with its suppliers, monitoring products registered on the ZDHC Gateway and SDSs received from suppliers;
In researching BATs (Best Available Technologies) for the various processes and intermediate products used;
To establish procedures for the use of substances based on fluorinated compounds;
To eliminate, in the year 2023/24, the use of xylene and toluene products containing the hazard phrase H361 by considering the purchase of alternative products that do not have this hazard phrase and content of these substances.

To this end, in 2023, River Chimica Industriale S.p.A. initiated activities to implement a Chemical Management System (CMS) compliant with the ICEC TS 420 technical specification “Management of chemicals at suppliers of chemicals for the tanning and textile sectors according to ZDHC requirements,” with the aim of registering as many of its products as possible at Level 3 on the ZDHC Gateway platform.
River Chimica Industriale S.p.A. has identified in a Chemical Management Team, the people in charge of ensuring the correct application of the CMS, and of reviewing periodically (at least every 6 months), and on the occasion of regulatory updates, the restricted substances and the possible need to update company procedures.
River Chimica Industriale S.p.A. is active in providing all the necessary resources so that the above objectives are achieved, as well as in the dissemination of all the contents of this so that it is known and pursued at all levels.
The company is committed to sharing information regarding hazardous chemicals contained in purchased, formulated and marketed chemicals with all internal and external stakeholders.
